Aalu Taama

Aalu Taama is a traditional Newari dish from Nepal, made with potatoes, bamboo shoots, and black-eyed peas. This flavorful dish is known for its unique balance of tangy, spicy, and umami flavors, often enhanced with ingredients like garlic, ginger, turmeric, and more. The bamboo shoots give it a slightly sour taste, while the potatoes and beans provide a hearty texture. Aalu Taama complements both vegetarian and meat-based Newari meals.

Samayabaji Set

Samayabaji Set is a quintessential Newari feast, typically served during festivals, and special occasions. This vibrant and diverse platter consists of a variety of small, flavorful dishes, symbolizing the Newar culture's love for food and celebration. The set usually includes bara (fried lentil cakes), chhoela (spicy grilled meat), sukuti (dried and spiced meat), kachila (raw minced meat salad), boiled eggs, and a variety of pickles (achars). The different textures and rich flavors of each component come together to create a deliciously complex taste experience.
